Analyzes and parses a number of characters from a given string. Use the Locate action to find the location in a string to parse. Use Parse to extract a range of numbers from a larger string. For example, the string “8015553200” can be parsed with Start=1 and End=3 to return “801”. Most often, variables will contain the data to be parsed.

Input Properties

These properties define data that the action uses when executing.

Property	Description
Add Caption	Enter a short phrase that uniquely identifies this action in the script. The caption appears on the script canvas under the action icon.
String	The value here is the String to parse. Use of variable substitution is common in this property value. Curly brackets are needed when entering a value in this property.
Start	The position of the first character to parse. Use of variable substitution is common in this property value. For random size values, the Locate action can be used to find the values. This is a numeric value, therefore curly brackets cannot be used in this property.
End	The position of the last character to parse. Use of variable substitution is common in this property value. For random size values, the Locate action can be used to find the values. This is a numeric field, therefore curly brackets cannot be used in this property.
Variable	The name of the variable to receive the parsed text.

Result Branch Conditions

Result branch conditions allow you to create branches in your script to handle different outcomes when an action executes.

Condition	Description
Default	Path taken unless the script meets a condition that requires it to take one of the other branches. It is also taken if the action's other branches are not defined.
